I don’t know where my home is
Multi-element installation with video
size: max. length of the biggest object: 280 cm / composition depends on space
materials: recycled cellulose, natural minerals, tree branches

During the art residency in the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdroj in Poland, Mydlak delved into the concept of control over matter and its natural processes.
Through her research and experimentation with fibers and exposure to various substances or external factors such as sunlight, rain, humidity and flowing water,
she explored the ways in which material can be influenced and transformed.
Barbara Mydlak was investigating the boundary between the control of natural processes affecting matter and the gesture of the artist.
By covering the fibers with different fabrics and varying their thickness, she produced an array of shapes and forms that represent her interpretation of the surroundings.
The project drew inspiration from the particular geographic location and its natural topography of the 'Errant Rocks'.
It narrates a visual story of disorientation and the quest for a sense of belonging and connection within the broader context.
The pursuit of intimacy and proximity is sought within the discrete components of the environment, including the vestiges of abandoned structures, the contours of the terrain and the shapes of light and shadows.
The desire to find a place of belonging and to establish a sense of home.
